Teri Lueders

McKinney, Texas
In nature, you’d be hard-pressed to find a truly smooth surface. We’re surrounded by such wonderful textures – from tiny bumps to deep crevasses – and Teri Lueders is captivated by the concept of capturing them on canvas.
Working with oils and more recently with the ancient art of encaustics, she manipulates colors, embeds found objects and layers on the creativity.
“I work so hard to achieve the textures I crave on canvas,” Teri states. “Wax not only simplifies textural work, but opens the door to a world of creative possibilities.”
Water and fluidity are recurring themes, as is nature in its many forms. For inspiration, Teri draws upon faraway travels, childhood memories, deep sea adventures and more. As an ovarian cancer survivor, she also finds strength in the ability to lose herself in the serenity of a painting session for hours at a time.
